The Voyager Jazz Group was officially founded in Marseille France in May 2013. Debuting as a quartet, the group was compromised of a collection of musicians from 3 countries. Members included William Brian Hogg – saxophones from the US, Philippe Martel – piano and Gerard Guerin – bass from France, and Willie Walsh – drums from Ireland. Performing throughout the summer at jazz festivals and concerts from Paris to Marseille, the group recorded its first album titled Rencontre (translated from French to mean “meet” or “meeting”) to critical acclaim in the south of France. A regular fixture on jazz radio for several months following the album’s debut, Rencontre continues to fill playlists internationally. The record features fresh approaches to Jazz standard repertoire and includes 2 original compositions by William Brian Hogg. Guest artists include the renowned jazz musician William Galison on harmonica and French Jazz star Kristin Marion on vocals. You can order the Voyager Debut Recording Rencontre HERE.
